Culinary delights and specialities

Fine food from the St.Gallen-Lake Constance region

And not just its bratwurst, beer and bürli, or regional bread. The region offers gourmet creations in historic manor houses, international dishes in modern glass buildings – and home cooking in the traditional first-storey beizlis, a kind of tavern or pub.

Specialities from Eastern Switzerland

Historical first-floor beizlis

Beizlis are traditional, small restaurants situated on the first floor of historic buildings with slanted floors and low ceilings: since the beginning of the 19th century, the traditional first-storey beizlis in St.Gallen have been welcoming guests and locals alike with their cosy ambience, lovingly designed menus and original St.Gallen dishes.

Top wines from the Rhine Valley wine region

The slopes are steep. Lusciously green in summer, idyllically colourful in autumn, magically snowy in winter. And they’re fertile: high above Lake Constance, more than 20 different grape varieties, each with its own special character, thrive in this wine-growing region. The wine produced here is as distinctive as the valley itself where the borders of four different countries intersect.
